Janja Garnbret is Back for Slovenia World Cup
Janja Garnbret returns for the IFSC Climbing World Cup in Koper, Slovenia, marking its fourth consecutive year in the city. This 417th World Cup event features the 236th Lead comp. Garnbret took home gold in Koper in 2023 and 2024.
Garnbret is widely regarded as one of the greatest competitive climbers in history. She has dominated the IFSC Climbing World Cup circuit, securing multiple titles across Lead, Boulder, and Combined disciplines. Garnbret made history at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, winning the first-ever Olympic gold medal in sport climbing. She won again at Paris in 2024. Her technical precision, dynamic movement, and ability to read routes set her apart. With over 40 World Cup medals, she holds the record for the most wins in the sport.
Also competing for the women in Koper is Erin McNeice the U.K., who’s podiumed in four of five lead events (2 golds, 2 bronzes) in 2025. Jain Kim of Korea is competing in her 104th Lead World Cup, second all-time behind Jenny Lavarda.
For the men, Jakob Schubert is competing in his 156th World Cup, second only to Sean McColl. Alberto Ginés López of Spain has been on the podium at every Lead World Cup in 2025, winning two silvers and three bronzes. Adam Ondra is also returning for the Koper World Cup.
