More Everest Records: Pasang Dawa Hits 31 Summits, Kenton Cool Reaches 20
Nepal’s legendary Sherpa climbers and veteran foreign mountaineers have once again made history on Everest, as the 2026 climbing season continues to produce record-breaking ascents.
Leading the latest achievements is Pasang Dawa Sherpa, who’s climbed Everest twice this year bringing his total to 31. The feat places the renowned climber just one summit behind fellow Nepali climbing icon Kami Rita Sherpa, who recently extended his own world record with a 32nd ascent of the world’s highest peak – read more about it here.
Meanwhile, British mountaineer Kenton Cool also added another chapter to his remarkable Everest career, reaching the summit for a record 20th time and extending his lead as the foreign climber with the most ascents of Everest. Cool was accompanied by veteran Nepali climber Dorji Gyaljen, who completed his 24th successful Everest summit during the expedition.
Now 53, Cool remains one of Britain’s most accomplished mountaineers. In 2013, he became the first British climber to summit Nuptse, Everest, and Lhotse in a single climbing season. In 2021, he climbed Lhotse less than 29 hours after standing atop Everest. For more 2026 Everest news visit here.
