Stefano Ghisolfi Climbs Two V15s in Two Days in Switzerland
On July 4, Stefano Ghisolfi climbed Big Snapper V15 (8C) at the Sustenpass Boulders in Switzerland and made very quick work of it. Ghisolfi climbed his first V15 just a little over a year ago in June 2025. Since then, he has climbed nine more V15 problems. And he seems to be taking them down with more ease. The day before he topped Big Snapper, he opened P.I.G. V15 at Gotthard Pass.
“Third ascent of Big Snapper 8C/V15 after [Shawn Raboutou] and [Dave Graham],” said Ghisolfi on Instagram. “Took me 2 days to figure out the moves and send, in the end, I went for a mix of power and kneebars.”
Raboutou established Big Snapper in 2023 and proposed a grade of V14. When Graham made the second ascent, on his Instagram, he said, “I know the boulder looks like [V8] in the video, but I found this thing [V15] without a doubt; a very tense yet powerful [V13] into a more average [V12], all in ten hand moves.” Ghisolfi agrees with Graham’s assessment of V15.
Ghisolfi is one of the world’s best sport climbers. He has climbed four 5.15c’s: Alex Megos’ Perfecto Mundo in Margalef, Adam Ondra’s Change in Flatanger, Megos’ Bibliographie in Céüse, and his first ascent of Excalibur in Arco. More recently, Ghisolfi seemingly embarked on a mission to level up his bouldering game, and he has been incredibly successful in climbing the ranks. As previously mentioned, he has climbed ten V15 problems, essentially in the span of only one year.
In February of this year, he climbed Gioia V16 in Varazze, Italy – his first boulder of the grade. On that trip, he also sent Road of Life V14. In March, he went on a sending spree in Ticino, Switzerland. Within ten days, he climbed three V15 problems: Dreamtime, The Story of Two Worlds, and 4-Low.
But 2026 has also involved some sport climbing for the Italian crusher. In June, he climbed Ratstaman Vibrations 5.15b in Céüse, France. This was his sixteenth climb 5.15b or harder. Earlier this year, in February, he sent 5.14d (9a) in a day – a first for Ghisolfi – on Gabriele Moroni’s Mascella Serrata in Arco, Italy. The route went down on his fourth go.
