Stefano Ghisolfi Climbing Two V15s
Stefano Ghisolfi spent his summer bouldering and appears to be continuing to embrace his crash pads for the time being. In August, he ticked some hard problems in Gotthard Pass, Switzerland. Highlights from his trip include his send of Hazel Grace Sit V15/16 (8C/+) and his best bouldering day to date when he topped both El Tony V14 (8B+) and Adularia V15 (8C) on the same day. A new video has just been released with his send footage of Hazel Grace, Hazel Grace Sit, and Adularia.
In early August, Ghisolfi spent two days unlocking Hazel Grace V14, the stand-start version of the problem, and then spent another two days completing the sit. Hazel Grace was established by Giuliano Cameroni in 2017 at a grade of V15, which settled at V14 with subsequent ascents. The aesthetic, five-star boulder trends leftward across a seam to an arete topout in a beautiful alpine setting. In 2021, Cameroni added a sit start, which he graded as soft V16. Subsequent ascensionists Florian Wientjes, Dave Graham, Sam Weir, and Stefano Carnati all believed the problem to be V15/16. Ghisolfi downgraded the problem to V15, not taking the slash grade for his ascent.
Ghisolfi’s big double send day happened later in the month. On that day, he began with a top of El Tony V14 (8B+), a problem put up two months ago by Gianin Regli. He then completed Adularia V15 (8C), which is a Dave Graham line established in 2023. Adularia was his third V15 at the time, but he has since sent another, Flow State, in Val Daone, Italy.
Ghisolfi, who gained his place in the spotlight with his hard sport climbs, has recently been spending more time bouldering and has racked up an impressive ticklist in a short period of time. He sent his first V15 ever in June on Anam Cara Low at Silvapark in Austria. He has since ticked three more V15s—Hazel Grace Low, Adularia, and Flow State—and seven V14s.
