Claudia Ghisolfi Climbs a 5.14d in France

Claudia Ghisolfi, 29, has redpointed the popular Trip Tik Tonik 5.14d (9a) in the Déversé sector of Gorges du Loup, France. This is her second of the grade.

“I started trying Trip Tik Tonik at the end of July,” Ghisolfi said on 8a.nu, “after the first part of the competition season. I was there in Gorges du Loup for a short trip with Laura Rogora, Giovanni Placci and other friends. I was near to send it just after few tries but than Giovanni broke a hold and the boulder section became harder for me. Finally this Saturday I sent it! I’m so proud of this ascent because it’s considered one of the best 9a in France.”

Ghisolfi had previously climbed TCT 5.14d, Noia 5.14c and L’Extremacura plus 5.14c, Suka 5.14b, Semplicemente Mia 5.14b, and several other 5.14-. Ghisolfi will be competing at Italy’s climbing championships in October, which will take place in Arco, before heading to either Spain or back to France for the fall.

Trip Tik Tonik was first climbed by Cédric Lo Piccolo in 2004, at 5.14b/c but upgraded to 5.14d in 2011 after Guillaume Lebret removed two glued holds, increasing the difficulty. The 30-metre route features a complex, steep crux with kneebar moves and pinches, demanding power-endurance and technical precision.
