Another 5.14d for Laura Rogora, See Her Hardest 50 Sends
Laura Rogora has continued her run of hard sends with an ascent of Moon Landing 5.14d at Passo della Presolana, Italy. Rogora has been taking a break from the World Cup circuit to focus on outdoor projects.
She spent the past weekend projecting Moon Landing, beginning with a reconnaissance day on Saturday. “After the first two burns the final crux felt pretty hard,” she explained. With rain moving in and the upper section of the route wet, she opted to focus on the easier 5.14c exit instead. On her third attempt she slipped from a wet foothold before managing to complete the route on her fourth go.
Despite leaving the crag with limited expectations, conditions improved the following day. “On my second go the wind had picked up a bit and I realized I had a chance,” Rogora said. “I didn’t make any mistakes, and after a good fight on the final boulder I clipped the chain.”
The ascent adds another classic Italian testpiece to Rogora’s already extensive list of difficult sport climbs. According to her personal 8a.nu card, she’s now climbed 47 routes 5.14d or harder and several 5.14c/d. Below are her hardest 50 sends.
